Key Instant Recall Facts (KIRFs)
KIRFs are the ‘Key Instant Recall Facts’ that children need to secure during their primary years. They include number knowledge and facts that are integral and that link to many other areas of maths, such as number bonds, times tables and equivalence. They are particularly useful when calculating; adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing but also underpin many more complex ideas in mathematics. If children can secure these facts they will be more successful at applying them across the different areas of maths.
Below there are help sheets for each year group with the different recall facts. Each help sheet includes ideas, specific websites, key vocabulary and questions to best help support your child.
