Stimulating Young Minds

Class 8

Welcome To Class 8!

I hope you have all had a wonderful summer holiday and are ready to get back to the school routine!

An insight to Class 8's learning this autumn term!

We have lots of exciting topics to explore...

Our novel study this term will be 'Dindy and the Elephant' by Elizabeth Laird. This is an exciting start to year 4's literacy work as it will link with our topic of India.

For the first part of the autumn term we will be heavily focusing on place value. This is a very important aspect of maths as it will provide support to future topics. We will be following the mastery approach where we will work on a range of activities to improve on fluency, reasoning and problem solving.

Our science topic this term is Electricity! We will have lots of interesting lessons which involve constructing series of electrical circuits, identifying and naming its basic parts, including cells, wires, bulbs, switches and buzzers.

We are very lucky this year to have FCS to come and conduct our PE lessons. This term they will be focusing on Invasion Games every Thursday afternoon. Therefore, please make sure your child has the correct PE attire for both indoor and outdoor activities as I'm sure it will rain at some point!

Homework will vary from week to week mainly based on the learning that is taking place. Homework will be given out on Wednesday and is expected back in school the following Tuesday.

If you have any questions about your child and their learning, my door is always open or send me a message on the ClassDojo.
