Class 6

Dear parents and children-week of 11th May

I hope you enjoyed your VE day celebrations. Many of you sent me photos of yummy cakes, beautiful bunting and family fun. Here is your learning pack for this week. In literacy this week we will be watching a super video called Something Fishy and doing some story writing and descriptive work. Continue to follow The White Rose Maths as best as you can. At the moment it is revising previous learning (so no more fractions you may be relieved to hearsmiley). In science the children will learn about a famous female paleontologist Mary Anning, there are video links and a ppt before they do some reading and answering questions. In history it is all about The Bayeux Tapestry which famously depicts The Battle of Hastings, there are video links, a ppt and some art to do if you like. Thank you for all the messages to let me know how you are getting along, it really makes my day. Please remember to just do the best you can! Get in touch if you need any support. Mrs VB

Hello parents and children-week beginning 4th May

Here is your learning pack for this week. We have only planned for 4 days of literacy and maths due to Friday's bank holiday. Here are some highlights for this week: Children will be creating a Shakespearean playbill (poster), learning about fossils, why William won the Battle of Hastings and carrying on with art sent by Mrs Sudra. They will also finish watching Macbeth (I wonder what will happen to him???) As always please follow Dojo for any announcements or if you need to get in touch I am always happy to help. I hope you are all well and thank you for all the support with home learning (I know it is not easy). Remember do as little or as much as you can and let your child have some choice in what they would like to do.

Hello parents and children-week beginning 27th April 2020

Here is the home learning for this week. In literacy you will be continuing with Macbeth episodes 2 and 3. We would like you to write a letter from Lady Macbeth to Macbeth. Later in the week we would like you to write a dialogue between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. In maths we are following Summer Term Week 1  all the sheets are below. In science we are continuing to learn about rocks and test their properties. In history we would like you to look at some historical sources and think about what happened next in the battle for the crown. Have a look at the plans and resources below and as usual please get in touch if you would like any support.

Sending love and good wishes to all the children in class 6. Mrs VB x

Hello parents and children-Week beginning 20.04.20

I hope you enjoyed your Easter; the sun seemed to cooperate and I am sure many of you could enjoy your gardens. Thank you to parents and children who have got in touch with ideas and resources. So...back to "normal" learning. Here is your pack for this week. Once again Mrs Webster, Miss Musson and myself have organised the learning into 2 timetables (literacy and maths and curriculum and web links you may find useful). Use the timetables to plan what you might like to do each day. Remember do as little or as much as you and your child can manage...no Ofsted in sight. We as teachers are just so grateful if children are engaging even a little with the work or dojo posts, timetable rockstars...etc. Literacy sees the start of Macbeth (yes Macbeth!). The BBC has created a wonderful animated series of the play for KS2. This was a real favourite when we did it last time so hopefully your child will enjoy it. Maths continues to follow the White Rose scheme which is all linked in the timetable as well worksheets below. The overall topic for this term is Knights and Castles with history being a key focus. Science will be exploring rocks and soil (sounds dull but the children and me included always seem to love learning about rocks). Mrs Sudra has very kindly included a wonderful Coat of Arms art and design project. There are hopefully many things to pique your interest and your child's. Keep in touch! Mrs VB

Hello parents- Week beginning 06.04.2020

Happy Monday!

Thank you for all the wonderful messages! The children seem to be doing so well and you as parents are very creative, patient and enthusiastic home teachers! You may be happy to hear that "regular" home learning is suspended for the next 2 weeks so that we can stay on track with our termly planned lessons. Mrs Webster, Miss Musson and I have put together a pack of Easter activities, crafts and challenges. We are also including some links that you may find entertaining (and time filling) throughout the next 2 weeks. Just a reminder that Twinkl is letting parents access many of their resources for free as well as Scholastic. Mrs Sudra has also asked us to include a pack about the artist Paul Klee. It certainly is a group effort to put these packs together. Class 6 I will be back in touch via video soon. In the meantime, any questions please message me via dojo or mvanbreugel@glebelands.leicester.sch.uk.

Happy Easter!

Mrs VB

Hello parents

Welcome to week 2 of home learning. This week we have created a more structured daily approach to your days based on parent feedback. You can of course use this timetable how you like. We have tried to create plans that cover literacy, maths, reading and a variety of curriculum areas. I am always at the end of an email to support you and your children with learning. I am hoping to do some video teaching soon and upload these to either Dojo or the website (watch this space). I will also try and and post a daily mindful exercise on Dojo to help children (and parents!) relax and focus. If you did not manage to collect a copy of the novel last week we have scanned the pages and put them on ppt, I will also try to read each chapter on video and upload.

Mrs Van Breugel

Welcome to class 6 and year 3
