Class 5

WELCOME toClass 5!

September 2020

Hello and welcome to a new school year in Class 5.

I hope you are as excited as I am and looking forward to your new adventure this year.

There are a few problems with Class Dojo which means Mrs O'Brien's class that are coming to me can't receive messages at the moment so here is the message from Class Dojo:

Hello everyone!

I am excited and really looking forward to the new academic year.

I hope you feel the same but don't worry if you feel a little bit nervous, that's only natural and others will be feeling the same way.

Don't worry if you can't remember school routines, where to go or what you need to do - we will be going over everything again when you are back. We just want you all back, safely settled and seeing all your friends again.

We will be making sure you wash your hands as much as possible and there will be sanitizer around school for you to have a squirt of!
You will see lines on the floor to show how far you need to stand apart and notices to say which side of the corridor to walk along. BUT don't worry about any of this as you will be given plenty of time to talk and get used to things and in no time at all it will be like you've never been away!
I will be sending out more information such as PE times etc soon.
In the meantime, have a good weekend and see you all on Tuesday.

Stay safe

Ms Alvey

General Information about Class 5

PE- PE will be on Friday's and children will need to come to school dressed in PE kit.

  • White t-shirt
  • Black joggers (shorts if it is warm)
  • School Jumper/cardigan/sweatshirt
  • Long hair tied back
  • Earrings removed or covered with micropore
  • Trainers

    Active Track!

We will be going out onto the track a few times a week to complete as many laps as we can in 10 to 15 minutes. Please could you make sure that children have plimsolls in school at all times to change into in case their outdoor footwear is unsuitable for running. Thank you.

Reading books

Children will read during the week but reading books will be changed on Friday's in order to sanitize any books. To minimize handling of reading diaries, they will be stamped when a child is heard read. Please keep last year’s reading diaries in children’s book bags so that we can continue to use them.

Homework will be given out on a Friday starting from 11th September and should be returned by the following Wednesday.

The spellings for this half term will be given out on 11th September and tests will take place on a Friday.

Year 2 SATs

Year 2 children take part in SATs assessments in May – these form only a small part of the ongoing assessments that take place in every class over the year and are nothing to worry about. You will receive children’s levels in their reports at the end of the year.

We are trying to minimise face to face contact for obvious reasons but please feel free to contact me on Class Dojo, if it is anything that is urgent or needs an immediate response please contact the office.
