Hello and welcome to the magnificent Class 4. We'll have a wonderful time taking you on your next step in your learning. This page will outline some of the key information that you will need.

The Curriculum
Class 4 is a mixed age class with both year 1 and 2. I am very experienced at teaching like this and at Glebelands we design a curriculum which meets the needs of all pupils. Both year groups follow the National Curriculum for England which is delivered for the year 1s through a play based approach as in Reception year. The Years 2s engage in more formal teaching and learning episodes.

Maths: Place Value and Addition and Subtraction
Science: Carrying out experiments
Geography: The United Kingdom
RE: Signs and Symbols
PE: Games and Gym

Important Information
PE:
PE sessions are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please come to school in PE kit (white t-shirt, dark jogging bottoms or shorts, and trainers. A school jumper, cardigan or fleece may be worn over the top). Long Hair must be tied back on Tuesday and earrings taped up or removed completely.
Reading Books:
Children will change books on their guided reading day. Children will bring home 2 levelled books as well as a books which promotes the practise of the phonic sounds to learn.
Spellings:
A spelling list will be sent out to year 2 children on 17th September and dictation will take place each Friday
A spelling list will be sent out to year 1 children on 24th September and single word spelling tests will take place each Friday.
