Class 4

Welcome to Class 4

Hello and welcome to the magnificent Class 4. We'll have a wonderful time taking you on your next step in your learning. This page will outline some of the key information that you will need.

Mr Kitchener (Class Teacher)

Miss Gunby (Student Teacher with Loughborough Learning Alliance)

Mrs Watts (Cover Teacher - Wednesday)

Miss Jamieson Teaching Assistant

Mrs Suleiman (Teaching Assistant)

Mrs Sudra (Art Teacher - Monday afternoon)

The Curriculum

Class 4 is a mixed age class with both year 1 and 2. I am very experienced at teaching like this and at Glebelands we design a curriculum which meets the needs of all pupils. Both year groups follow the National Curriculum for England which is delivered for the year 1s through a play based approach as in Reception year. The Years 2s engage in more formal teaching and learning episodes.

Important Information

PE sessions are on Tuesdays. Please come to school in PE kit (white t-shirt, dark jogging bottoms or shorts, and trainers. A school jumper, cardigan or fleece may be worn over the top). Long Hair must be tied back on Tuesday and earrings taped up or removed completely.

Reading Books:

Due to the current situation children will only be able to change books once a week on a Friday. Children will bring home 2 levelled books as well as a books which promotes the practise of the phonic sounds to learn.

A spelling list will be sent out to year 2 children on 14th September and dictation will take place each Friday

A spelling list will be sent out to year 1 children on 28th September and single word spelling tests will take place each Friday.

Set on Fridays and collected on Wednesdays. Please note that due to the current situation homework will be stamped to indicate that is has been seen or checked by myself. This is to avoid handling items that have been going to and from home.

Reading with your child should last 15 minutes and be done each evening. Please take the time to sit with your child and listen to them read.

Spellings will be sent out to be learnt each week.

An additional piece of work (usually maths) will be sent out each week. this will be practise of the skill we have learnt in class. This will commence on Friday 18th September for Year 2s and after the October half term for year 1s.
