Class 2 Reception

This year our staff includes:

Within the Foundation base, our staff also includes:

We also have student placements and parent volunteers at different times.




Our P.E. day is Thursday afternoon. 

Your child will need a named white t-shirt, a pair of dark coloured shorts and plimsolls.  For health and safety purposes, ALL jewellery should be removed including earrings , and long hair tied up.   

If your child has items that cannot be removed please speak to a member of staff.



Water Bottles

Children are encouraged to bring a clearly labelled bottle containing water, which they will have access to during the day.  The children are expected to take this home at the end of the day and bring back the following day, refilled.

Our topic this term is Family 


We will be reading lots of stories this term and within these, focusing on families.

The children will also have an opportunity to talk about their families.





Activities this half term will consolidate aspects 1-6. 


Aspect 1- Environmental sounds:  What sounds we can hear around us?

Aspect 2- Instrumental sounds

Aspect 3- Body percussion

Aspect 4 - Rhyme and rhythm

Aspect 5 - Alliteration

Aspect 6 - Voice sounds

Aspect 7- Oral blending and segmenting

Phonics after half term 


Children will be introduced to all the letter sounds in Phase 2.

We will do lots of work on blending (putting together) the sounds to read words and segmenting (taking apart) words to write them.

i.e. hat      h-a-t   or frog      f-r-o-g.


Blending and segmenting is really important so keep practising with the children at home.
